Import templates are provided in the most commonly used data import tools (contacts, products, bank statements, etc.). You can open them using any spreadsheet software (Microsoft Office, OpenOffice, Google Drive, etc.).

  • Delete unnecessary columns. We recommend not deleting an ID (see the reason below).
  • Drag down the ID order to set a unique ID for each record.
  • When adding a new row, if the label of this row does not match any field in the system, Odoo may not automatically map it. Therefore, please search for the corresponding field.

    Then use the tags you found on the import template, and you can use them immediately the next time you attempt to import.

[UNKNOWN NODE problematic]ID** (External ID) is a unique identifier for line items. Please use the previous software to smoothly transition to Odoo.

When importing data, setting an ID number is not mandatory, but it can be very useful in many cases.

  • Update import: Import the same file multiple times without creating duplicates;
  • Import relationship fields (see below)

Odoo objects are always related to many other objects (for example, a product is linked to product categories, attributes, suppliers, etc.). To import these relationships, you need to first import the records of the related objects from their own list menus.

You can import using associated records or ID numbers. When two records have the same name, an ID number is needed to distinguish them, which is added at the end of the row title: " / ID". (For example, product attribute: product attribute/attribute / ID)
