In the early stages of operations, processes and data were managed through several Excel worksheets and a self-made access application. As the company grew, Rotterdam SCL sought a system that best suited the processes at the time. In 2009, Rotterdam SCL decided to purchase a pure logistics software system. In the years following the implementation of this logistics software system, the company diversified. In addition to departments and entirely new business processes, an increasing number of services were added.
The company concluded that a simple logistics system was insufficient to cover the company's entire workflow. To meet new requirements, some new tools have been programmed internally, and departments are increasingly using Google Sheets to maintain their data and monitor processes. Seven years later, they reviewed the internal architecture and concluded that there were many opportunities for improvement. They needed a proper software solution for their company. The main pain point was the inefficiency of working across many different systems in different departments. This led to duplicate data entry, as not all data could be used centrally.
